NEWS: Earthquake Devestates Japan

An 8.9 earthquake shook Japan at 2:46 p.m. on Friday. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck  230 miles from Tokyo and is the fifth-strongest in the world since 1900.* Images and video feed of the quake show the wide-spread destruction, including walls of water (tsunamis) sweeping over fields and through towns along coastal areas of Japan.

OCI President Markus Jaudas contacted Mount Akagi Institute, an OCI ministry in Maebashi City, Japan, on Friday morning. The ministry team was unhurt and reported no damage.

Our prayers and thoughts are with those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunamis.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the beginnings of sorrows.
-Mark 13:8
